Fire Door Gap Changes: Measure the Pattern Before Repair
Changing gaps may indicate frame movement, hinge support changes, leaf distortion, floor coverings or previous adjustment. Measure clearances at several points, note rubbing and check closing and latching. Compare the pattern with the doorset specification and applicable guidance rather than relying on one generic measurement. If the gap changed since an earlier inspection, investigate recent work and movement before altering the leaf. See fault finding, frame guidance and installation guidance.
