Fire Door Frame Adjuster
Lifecycle Adjustment for Timber Fire Doors
The Proudman Fire Door Frame Adjuster is a patented mechanical component that allows accurate alignment of timber fire door frames within the wall opening — both during installation and at any later stage.
It removes the need for traditional packers and rigid fixing methods and allows future re-alignment without removing finishes or damaging the doorset.
Key Benefits
- Enables fine adjustment during installation and post-handover
- Compensates for uneven or irregular wall surfaces
- Eliminates destructive remedial works
- Reduces adjustment time from hours to approximately 15–20 minutes
- Supports long-term fire door compliance
Technical Overview
- Manufactured from 304 stainless steel, consistent with FD-rated ironmongery
- Designed to fix directly into structural substrates using 8mm SDS drilling or less
- Compatible with standard masonry fixings or timber screws
- Final adjustment via 12mm hex key, then locked off
- Incorporates a dedicated intumescent lid compatible with standard 15mm or 20mm fire-only or fire-and-smoke strips
Lifecycle Advantage
Traditional frame adjustment can take five to six hours per doorset and often requires cutting and reinstatement.
With this system:
- Adjustments are fast
- Finishes remain intact
- Compliance can be maintained repeatedly over the building lifecycle
Testing & Certification
The frame adjuster is scheduled for staged testing, including:
- Tensile testing
- Heat exposure testing
- Pull-through testing
Following component testing, the system is intended to be tested within a full doorset assembly. Collaboration with manufacturers pursuing EN 1634-1 compliance is welcomed.
