About Proudman Fire
Smarter Fire Door Systems for the Entire Lifecycle of a Building
Proudman Fire was founded to rethink how fire doors are installed, maintained, inspected and managed throughout the life of a building.
Built from Real Industry Experience
After nearly 30 years working within the joinery and fire door industry, we saw the same problems repeatedly affecting projects across the UK. Traditional installation methods have changed very little despite the increasing pressure placed on fire door performance, maintenance and compliance.
Proudman Fire was created to develop practical systems that improve not only installation, but the long-term maintainability of timber fire doorsets. Every Proudman Fire product has been developed from practical site experience and real-world installation problems.
Common Industry Problems:
- Costly remedial works
- Frame movement and door swelling
- Destructive maintenance procedures
- Difficult inspection access
- Increasing compliance demands
- Rising labour and lifecycle costs
REDUCE DISRUPTION. IMPROVE MAINTAINABILITY.
EXTEND LIFECYCLE PERFORMANCE.
The Proudman Adjustment System™
Fire Door Lifecycle Adjustment
& Inspection System
Rather than focusing purely on initial installation, we believe the industry must begin designing fire door systems around long-term maintenance, inspection access and lifecycle compliance.
At the centre of the business is the Proudman Adjustment System™ — a patented adjustable fixing system for timber fire door frames. The system replaces traditional packers while maintaining the standard fixing principle: Frame → screw → supporting structure.
Unlike traditional methods, the system allows controlled adjustment of timber fire door frames without removing surrounding finishes or damaging architraves.
This allows:
- Precise frame alignment during installation
- Post-installation frame adjustment
- Reduced remedial labour
- Non-destructive maintenance access
- Minimal disruption during inspections and repairs
Exceptional Structural Performance
Independent mechanical testing carried out within a UKAS accredited laboratory demonstrated exceptional structural performance, with the adjusters consistently achieving approximately:
1 tonne (≈11kN) per fixing
per fixing
with the screws failing before the adjusters themselves. The system is currently progressing through fire testing and technical assessment routes for wider industry adoption.
Non-Destructive Maintenance &
Lifecycle Compliance
One of the biggest challenges within the fire door sector is the destructive nature of ongoing maintenance and remedial works. In many buildings today, accessing and adjusting frames requires removal of architraves, damage to surrounding finishes, multiple trades returning to site, and disruption to occupied buildings.
Proudman Fire systems are being developed to remove these unnecessary processes. In many cases, works that traditionally take hours can be completed in minutes. The long-term savings in labour, disruption, remedial work and warranty call-backs are substantial.
Major lifecycle savings for:
- Housing associations
- Hospitals
- Education buildings
- FM providers
- Contractors
- Fire door manufacturers
- Maintenance companies

Innovation Through Practical Solutions
Looking Forward
Proudman Fire exists to solve real problems within passive fire protection. Our focus is not simply creating products — it is creating systems that improve installation efficiency, inspection access, maintenance processes, lifecycle compliance, and long-term building performance.
As regulations continue to evolve, the industry requires smarter and more maintainable solutions. Proudman Fire is committed to helping drive that change.
We are currently working with manufacturers, fire engineers, testing laboratories and certification bodies as part of ongoing development and fire testing programmes. This is only the beginning.
Our long-term aim is to create a complete ecosystem of systems and tools that modernise the installation and maintenance of fire doors across the industry.
